Spring Fling

It's been a busy Spring so far and we are lovin' it! Warmer days, BBQ nights and longer evenings, perfect summer combination. 

E V E N T S 
Olivia and Tanya attented Winetopia in October and have recently returned back from the Wellington Food Show. They were both great events to attend receiving awesome exposure. We completely SOLD OUT of Rosé at the Wellington Food Show - although quieter on a whole from previous years due to Covid-19 it was lovely seeing old faces and meeting new ones regardless what the weather seemed to do it didn't stop people coming to taste some of the Awatere Valleys finest.

Where do we start?! We are thrilled with the recent awards we have received, 2020 has been a successful year in all varietals. 

Cuisine Magazine - No1 in NZ / 5 Stars 
Our Late Harvest Riesling received 5 Stars and NUMBER 1 in NZ for the November issue of the Cuisine Magazine - it's a crowd favourite! 

A luscious dessert wine with marmalade, honey and floral aromas, succulent apricot flavours and a long, elegant finish.

2020 Marlborough Wine Show 
Gold, Silver & Bronze 
When we seen Marlborough Wine were hosting a wine competition we couldn't wait to enter. We also knew there were going to be a lot of entries in - as you know the Marlborough Region has numerous vineyards, often all you can see are vines! We were so humbled to receive 6 awards at this years event, it really goes to show the knowledge and expertise of our winemaker Glenn Thomas. 

Here's how we went: 
Gold - 2019 Pinot Noir 
Silver - 2018 Pinot Noir
2019 Dry Riesling  
Bronze - 2020 Rosé
2018 Sauvignon Blanc
2017 'Boulder Rows' Sauvignon Blanc

At this time of the year we carefully monitor the progress of the shoot growth as this is when we can see how many potential bunches of grapes there will be. If there are too many bunches they will be removed, this will be done by hand one vine at a time until we have the perfect amount of grapes to ensure the best possible quality.

Unfortunately we can’t yet see the flowers but they will appear shortly, they will look like tiny bunches of grapes. I will keep you posted of the progress as these start flowering (weather gods permitting).
