Marlborough Wine + Food Festival 2020
What a day it was! Hot, dry and windy – a typical Marlborough summers day.
We had a lot of visitors from the North Island which was absolutely lovely!
Which wine was the most popular? Hmm.. all of them!! Pinot started out the tipple of the day, however Tupari Pinot Gris and all three Riesling’s were a fan favourite with it being so hot.
It is the longest running Wine & Food Festival with over 40 wineries, 25 food stalls and some of NZ’s best musicians so if you are looking for tickets to the Wine & Food Festival next year lock in the 13th February 2021 and get your some early bird tickets here.
HOT new release… drum roll… 2019 Dry Riesling
Our 2019 is out and ready to be serve!
If you are after a Riesling that is dry yet refreshing you need to get your hot little hands on this drop!
This wine is finely textured with rich flavours and complexity, underpinned by a lingering crisp mineral finish. It is the perfect companion with fresh seafood such as fish or oysters. If you are after something else then get a platter going with some firm camembert or brie.

Marlborough Flyer comes to Seddon
We were fortunate enough to have the amazing Marlborough Flyer out on the 6th October for their Super Sunday Special. The 250+ passengers explored the scenic Dashwood Pass before stopping in Seddon. Some wined and dined whilst the kids bounced their afternoon away on the bouncy castle, some took a stroll through the local artisan markets and some took the opportunity to park up and enjoy the sun. It’s a great time to meet new people and catch up with the old. If you are interested in booking the Marlborough Flyer next time, click here.

Exciting News for our Cellar Door Opening
We have been asked many times when/if we would ever open a cellar door. And now we can say…YES! Wellington Food Show another success
Wow Welly! You were outstanding! Olivia and I had another a fantastic event at the Wellington Food Show! We loved seeing all our customers in the flesh and had some familiar faces coming back to see us from last year! We sold out of the Rosé and the Kabinett Riesling come Saturday Lunchtime and we only took home a handful of cases back to Seddon by the time the Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris & Rieslings had sold out too on the Sunday! This year was so successful we have decided to add Christchurch to the calendar for next year as well as Wellington. Watch this space!

Boulder Rows goes Platinum at Decanter!
We are over the moon about this! Our gorgeous 2015 Sauvignon Blanc ‘Boulder Rows’ has won PLATINUM at the Decanter World Wine Awards. We also won GOLD for our 2014 Late Harvest Riesling. This is a huge accolade for Glenn and the Team and we could not be more proud. Our mates over at Vavasour (also in the Awatere Valley) won Best In Show – congrats to them as well. We are punching above our weight in the Awatere on the World Stage that is for sure!
What the judges said about our delicious Sauvvy:
“Pronounced nose of honey, lime marmalade, kiwi, pink grapefruit, cold smoke and baking spices from oak fermentation. Full-bodied palate with sweet herb, tropical fruit, preserved lemon and peach moments: plenty of acidity and flavours, allied to a lovely silky texture — balanced , well made and very toothsome indeed!”
Thats it from me for Winter!
Cheers – Brig

Have you seen us in Mindfood?
Check out the December issue of Mindfood! There is a wee article about us and our background and what makes us all tick. We also made it into the drop of the week for our stunning 2015 Pinot Gris so have a read of that in your down time while you’re at it!
Marlborough Wine and Food Festival a Hit!
This year after a few years off, we made it back to the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival. It was a little wet but it certainly didn’t damper the punters! The big hits of the the day were definitely our cheeky little Rosé and the award winning Pinot Gris and of course our Late Harvest Riesling which always if a favourite at events. With one of our best years yet we will be back again for 2019!

Pink Pukeko Proving a favourite for the fillies
Our Pink Pukeko is already proving a favourite with the fillies! With loads of interest on Facebook already, this will fly off the shelf in the summer and is perfectly paired with food as it is fairly dry – our favs for wine pairing? Strawberries, cream and pavlova of course
Another award for our first ever dessert wine
We are super stoked with the latest Gold Medal we have received at the 2017 Canberra Riesling Challenge for our gorgeous 2014 Late Harvest Riesling. This is the second major award we have got for this ripper of a Riesling so we are quietly proud of it. Hints of honey, marmalade and apricot make this delicious paired with a panna cotta or a lemon cheesecake or to go with cheeseboard after dessert. Serve cold!
Events not to be missed
We have a few great events coming up over the next few months – one of our personal favourites however is the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival on Saturday 10 February 2018. The weather always turns it on and it is such a great day out. Not only are there lots of wonderful wineries, but the food and entertainment are also fantastic! Next year come and say hi if you are attending – we would love to see you there!
Have a fantastic silly season ahead – we certainly love this time of year!
